The BCA receives data from local law enforcement agencies and other sources as prescribed by state statute and federal law. Some of those data collections are available through the BCA Data Portal. Others are available through the Statistics/Reports section on the BCA website.
Use the Minnesota Crime Data Explorer to obtain information about criminal activity and other information reported by local law enforcement agencies to meet Minnesota and federal reporting requirements. Data in the Minnesota Crime Data Explorer may look different from federal or local crime data reports as agencies may publish the data at different times, the data may be updated at different times, or the methodology used to pull data from other systems may differ slightly. Obtain data prior to 2021 in the Minnesota Crime Statistics section of the BCA website.
Use the Minnesota Drug Crimes and Overdose Dashboard to obtain information about drug-related crimes, overdoses and deaths. This collection of data is a component of Minnesota’s Drug Monitoring Initiative.
Use the Minnesota DWI Dashboard to obtain information about impaired driving arrests as well as crashes where impaired driving is indicated. Incident trends are viewable in mapped display. Data are gathered from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s eCharging system and Office of Traffic Safety’s MNCrash system.
